Towards A New Urban Agriculture

As a means to encourage small scale, sustainable farming close to urban centres, and re-establish personal connections to the land where our food is grown, the Earthwise Society is working in partnership with local community groups and agencies to develop the farm as a learning center for urban agriculture. Situated at its field site in Boundary Bay in South Delta, the aims of the farm are:

to offer farm-based learning opportunities;

to increase community awareness regarding issues of sustainable food production, bringing together farming, health, and environmental interests

to provide the community with organically grown produce; and

to integrate agriculture into the curriculum of Delta’s schools.
