Earth Day at Agassiz 2024

Earth Day Celebrations at Earthwise Agassiz | April 20, 2024, 10 am- 2 pm

This Earth Day, Earthwise is determined to inspire hope amidst the challenges of climate change with a very special Earth Day celebration.  The event promises a day of connection, reflection, and action in the face of environmental adversity. Join us as we celebrate environmental stewardship and explore positive changes that we can all make in our own backyards.  Drop in, tour the site, meet the staff, and learn more about Earthwise Society’s many sustainability initiatives.

The Earth Day event comprises two components, and guests can attend one or both:

The Climate Cafe (drop in any time between 11am and 2pm)
Join Earthwise Agassiz in fostering support in the face of climate anxiety, while celebrating strides in Environmental Stewardship. Over a cup of tea, participants will engage in meaningful conversations with Earthwise staff and fellow community members, and gain valuable insights on simple but impactful actions they can take at home to combat climate change.  We will be showcasing our demonstration gardens, designed to positively benefit nature and work against climate change. Come with your questions on how to make changes in your own backyard!

Becoming Grounded- Nature Journaling Workshop (10 am-12 pm, registration required) Cost: $20-40, sketchbook included
Join Environmental Educator, Mary Nightingale, to learn where science meets art.  Nature journaling is a great way to slow down and connect with nature. It can be simple or complex, carefree or scientific, therapeutic or joyous, it’s whatever you make of it!  It can be done by anyone, no matter your skill level or knowledge of the environment. You’ll learn a range of practices that can be used to create your nature journal and connect with others in the community. Each participant will be provided with a simple sketchbook and basic art supplies. Feel free to bring your own specialty paper, paint or paper if you would like!
